Principles of Veneer Drying 2.1 Basic Knowledge 1

Why veneer drying is important in plywood manufacturing and to make this part of production more efficient? The operator should be aware of how the moisture removal has an impact on glue bonding properties, pressing quality and ultimate plywood strength.

Machine structure and control system

The operators are trained to be aware of vital parts like heating system, and conveyor belt, airflow circulation which flows around the above components etc controller board. Modernday dryers generally uses PLC system which only need basic parameter input and monitoring.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Training

A comprehensive SOP consists of start-up inspections, parameter settings, production monitoring and shutdown processes. Standardized steps are more likely to lead to a stable production and lower operational mistakes.

Temperature and Speed Adjustment Skills

Operators have to be trained How to adjust temperature based on conveyor speed and veneer thickness, wood type etc. Proper moisture balancing allows you to avoid over-drying and under-drying or uneven drying.

Quality Control and Defect Identification

Training is done for defect recognition as well, like cracked veneer, edge curling etc., moisture and uneven drying, when the sheets become brittle. Operators should respond quickly by tuning machine parameters to bring the machine back in to a stable state.

Routine Maintenance Knowledge

Basic maintenance training includes cleaning dust systems, inspecting various heating elements, checking belts and rollers, and making sure airflow channels are clear. This increases the lifespan of machine and reduces downtime.

Safety Procedures in Drying Operation

Veneer dryers operate at high temperatures, so operators must obey strict safety rules, including wearing proper protective equipment and having emergency shutdown procedures to keep people on the job safe from fires and other potential accidents.

Production Coordination Skills

Operators are trained on working closely with peeling, gluing and pressing departments. SDS drying quality is stable, allowing downstream processing to go smoothly and effectively improving plywood factory efficiency.
