Working Principle
This machine generates smooth, adjustable and uniform pressing force using hydraulic cylinders and pressurized oil. Mechanical cold press machines use mechanical components like screws, gears or linkage mechanisms to create compressive action. With hydraulic offers more flexibility and better pressure control.
Pressing Performance
Hydraulic cold press machines maintains a constant pressure through the entire pressing cycle and easily adjusts the amount of force being applied depending on the material type and panel thickness. On the contrary, mechanical cold press machines have lesser adjustment range and uneven force while creating high temperature at added pressure, which is quite difficult to maintain for larger sized wooden panels.
Production Applications
Hydraulic cold press machine is generally applied in plywood manufacturing, furniture making, MDF, HDF board and particleboard production, blockboard, veneer lamination and decorative panels processing. You might have seen cold press machines but the mechanical ones are mostly found on light-duty applications or in small workshops where less pressing force is sufficient enough.
Maintenance and Operating Costs
Mechanical machines tend to be more simpler and need less hydraulic maintenance. Although hydraulic cold press machine may be more expensive, they are also more durable, have stable operation and higher production efficiency, which makes them more cost–effective in the long run when it comes to continuous industrial production.
So Which Machine Is A Better Choice?
Most of the wood process factories now use hydraulic cold press machines as they offer higher pressing capacity, more pressure consistency, more flexible operation and better product quality. These mechanical cold press machines will still be adequately claimed for smaller-scale manufactured plywood but tend not to contend with hydraulic systems in mid- to significant Plyboard furniture and engineered timber production.
