Cold Press Vs Vacuum Press

Working Principle

A cold press machine is one that bonds wood panels and laminates using hydraulic pressure only, with no heat being applied. Vacuum press: Vacuum pressure removes air and presses decorative materials firmly against flat, curved or shaped workpieces. The two machines use different lines of pressing and are differently suited to manufacturing applications.

Suitable Applications

Cold press is mainly used for plywood, MDF, HDF, particleboard, blockboard as well as flat surfaces structural panels like lamination leaves furniture panels doors decorative boards. Commonly used to laminate plastic film (PVC) / veneer materials or flexible materials on cabinet doors / furniture components and on three-dimensional surfaces/curved surfaces.

Cold press machines typically offer short cycle times on flat panels and are designed for high-throughput industrial manufacturing. Production cycles are usually longer with a vacuum press machine but offer more flexibility to produce intricate decorative components.

Which is the better machine?

If your factory focuses on producing plywood, laminated panels, furniture boards, doors or other wooden sheet commodities, the answer is that a hydraulic cold press machine with high production efficiency, good adhesive performance and lower production cost per panel will be a much better investment. Vacuum presses are a far better answer—if you make PVC-wrapped cabinet doors, curved furniture components or three-dimensional decorative panels. However both are used in most modern furniture factories for different stages and types of products, often with the same production line.
